Should my dog's skin be dark after losing her hair?

my dog used to chew at the skin near her tail, and when we finally found out why, we used this awesome flea medication, and she stopped chewing. The big area she chewed was starting to scab, and she has no hair in that area now. The skin there is fine now,, but it's very dark right there. Is this normal for a dog?

Its normal. Just keep an eye on it. If it starts to smell or have a discharge of any kind, she could have a skin infection from all the chewing and needs to be put on antibiotics.

Was the fur dark? Often, dogs with dark fur have dark skin also.

yeah its normal. it could take a while for hair to grow back, it may never be as thick as it once was.

I'm not sure about that, but you may want to add Vitamin E oil to her food and rub the oil itself on to the affected area to promote healing.

It depends on the dog breed. Some breeds, like white haired dogs, have dark skin. Dark haired dogs have whiter skin. You should probably get it checked by a vet, just incase.

  1. There are lots of things to be thankful for but i guess none of them is my dog that has a lot of dog skin problems. I don't want to sound bitter but it is something i can't hardly be proud of. My family knows that I love my dog very much, they really wanted me to help on this we do a lot of treatments, but then, all of them costs me too much money, until they discuss me about the dog skin solutions created by Linda Kajda that helps me a lot to treat my dog skin problems, I really work on hard just do get over it. Okay, moving on... I am a happy person !It always overwhelm me to see happy people around. I love talking to people and it has been my routine to ask them what keeps them moving on. Someday, i will be a writer, a photographer, a web designer - and i will make a difference.
love your blog =) thanks for sharing
