Hair relaxer for Caucasians?

So I was at a party about a week ago, and this guy was telling me about this stuff I could put into my hair, leave it in for an hour, and then I would NEVER have to straighten my hair again! I could even let it air-dry and I would still have perfectly smooth hair! I didn't know that you could do that to "white-people" hair! I was so excited, but sadly to say, I was kinda/super drunk so all I remember about the specifics of the product was that it came in a blue bottle, and that the bottle didn't say to leave it in for an hour, only like 20 mins or something (details again, hazy). Thanks for your help, and if it helps, I have wavy hair all over my head, except for the bangs, which are super-curly AKA frizzy, and it takes about an hour to straighten and if he was telling the truth, this would be such a big helper for mornings, because I love sleep! Thanks!

don't know about the stuff he was talking about but the same chemical used to perm your hair can also make it straight

1. Nothing will straighten hair permanently. It will grow out just as curly as it was before. 2. The only real straighteners are strong chemicals that need to be used carefully and might burn your scalp. The others just help to keep it straight for a while, but you still need to comb it straight. 3. Why would Caucasians need a different product from Blacks, Latins, Polynesians, etc.? The only difference is how long you leave it in for how thick or fine your hair is.

If you are going to relax your hair, have it done at a salon. My stylist relaxed my hair with some product that was made in Japan and it left my hair very flat, smooth, and manageable. I don't have curly hair, but my hair is very thick and course and tends to poof up if I don't put a lot of product in it. When I had this procedure done, I didn't have to use anything other than shampoo and conditioner.

My hair had movement and was VERY straight ( limp/flat?) and stayed that way for about 4 months.

Another reason you should have it done professionally is because I've heard that if you leave the relaxer on too long, your hair can fall out. Also, you might get scalp burns from the chemicals.

Not sure what he was talking about never herd of it but their are 2 solutions to your problem.

#1 And my guess is that he was refering to reverse perm. all you have to do is apply and comb steright leave in till recomended time on the box but i recomend geting a self timing perm, "it shuts its self off." Again probley what your friend was refering to. Hope this helps if not here is the other option. =)

#2 (Very Expensive) Get a Ionic Straighting depending on the length of your hair anywhere from $300.00-$900.00 must be professional done.

There are chemical relaxers you can use (don't ever do it at home though, take it from someone who knows!) But they do damage your hair and then the new growth needs to be processed every few months or you end up with frizzy roots and smooth ends. I gave up on that and do something much less expensive now--deep conditioner, heat protecting spray, straightening balm and the Remington wet to dry straightening iron (it's pretty cheap, I think I got mine at Target). It leaves your hair smooth for several days like a salon blowout.

There are many effective straighteners at salons. I have been using a system developed by Chi Hair products. It is relatively inexpensive (about $75.00) done at a salon and creates nice straight hair.

I haven't heard of a product like what you are describing. I have tried to straighten my hair at home and my hair didn't fall out or anything but, it didn't get straight either. So, yeah you should probably go to a salon.
